Information Literacy Training : Welcome

Information Literacy

‘Information literacy is the ability to think critically and make balanced judgements about any information we find and use. It empowers us as citizens to develop informed views and to engage fully with society.’ (CILIP 2018)

The library is also keen to support digital literacies 'as the capabilities which fit someone for living, learning and working in a digital society' (JISC 2015).

Our online enquiry service, LibAnswers, is available:

Mon to Fri from 10.45 to 19.00 and Sat from 09.30 – 17.00 except during the Summer when it is available Mon to Fri 09:30-18:00.

Information Literacy Support

We offer personal support in the library at desks and through booked library sessions for students. A one-hour library session mid-term can allay fears and give students the confidence to sample a range of resources.  If your course has not had a library session yet, email an IL librarian or book here

Online support is provided mainly through IOE LibGuides and LibAnswers in IL sessions or independent study.
