Guide to the IOE Library's Click and Collect service 2020.

If you require a book from the IOE Library, please use our Click and Collect service.

Request a book online, receive an email notification that it's ready, and collect it from the IOE Library.

Visit UCL Explore to make your request.

The Click and Collect service is available during our opening times

Book collection is self-service on Level 4.


Request your book on UCL Explore:

  • Request the items that you wish to collect by logging into Explore. If you see a 'Request' option next to the book, it is available for Click and Collect.

  • Please note that you may not request more than 10 items at any one time.

  • You will receive an email notification once your book(s) are ready to be collected. Please do not come to site to collect before this notification. Books will then be held for three days after notification.

To request on Explore:

  1.  Log In to Explore:

  1. Search for the IOE book you wish to collect.
  2. Select the book.
  3. Under the section 'Locations', click the 'Request' link. If the request link is not showing, then the book can not be requested through Click and Collect.

  1. Select 'IOE Library'. Enter any further details or enter 'Not Applicable', and select 'Request'.

  1. Wait for an email notification that the book is ready to collect before coming to the IOE Library. Emails will be sent to your UCL email. Please follow any instructions provided. We aim to have books ready for the next working day, but there may be circumstances where this is not possible.

Staying safe on campus:

Please follow these guidelines when using the Click and Collect service.

  • Wear a mask when coming on campus unless exempt. UCL acknowledges that there may be good reasons why you are not able to wear a face covering.

  • Avoid contact and keep a distance of 2 metres from other people where possible.

  • Wash your hands regularly.

  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue, or the crease of your arm.

  • Avoid touching your face.

  • Stay at home if you feel ill.

The one way system for Click and Collect:

The IOE Library will be operating a one way walking system to support safe social distancing.

To follow the one way system for collecting books:

  • Enter the Library through the left hand side gate on Level 4.
  • Follow the directions passed the help desk on the left, and then around the sofa area on your right.
  • Turn right before the staircase to arrive at the Click and Collect reservation shelves and self-service terminals.One way system route to click and collect self-service shelves and kiosks.

Collecting your book at the IOE Library:

  • You will receive an email notification once your book(s) are ready to be collected. Please do not come to site to collect before this notification. Books will then be held for three days after notification.

  • You must bring your UCL card, and a copy of the notification for access to the building and the Library. The building entrance is on 20 Bedford Way.

  • You should wear a face mask unless exempt.

  • You must follow the indicated one way system.

  • Please keep a safe distance from others at all times.

  • Sanitising stations with surface wipes and hand gel are available throughout the Library.

  • Collection is self-service on Level 4 available during our opening hours.

Collecting your books:

  1. Follow the one way system to arrive at the Click and Collect reservation area comprised of reservation shelves, self-service terminals and sanitising station.

  1. Find your book the reservation shelves. The book will be kept under your surname. Confirm the book is reserved for you by checking the inserted slip.

  1. Take your book to the self-service terminal.
  2. Select 'Check out' on the screen.

Select the 'Check Out' button.

  1. Scan your UCL card's barcode.

  1. Place your book on the pad and wait for the display to show it has been checked out.

  1. Exit the library following the one way system.
